We accept literally the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
(II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 2:16-21)
We believe in one God; Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; I Cor. 8:6)
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He was buried, arose bodily from the dead, was seen of many, ascended into Heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate. (Isa. 7:14; John 1:1-14, 14:9; Col. 1:15; Phil. 2:5-8; Matt. 1:18-25; I Peter 2:24-25; Luke 24; Heb. 4:14-16; Acts 1:9-11; I Thess. 4:16-18; Matt. 25:31-46; Rev. 11:15-17, 20:4-6)
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.
(John 16:7-15; II Cor. 3:18; Acts 1:8; Gal. 5:22-23; John 14:16-20, 7:37-39)
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:10, 23; 5:12-21; John 3:3,16; 10:27-29; Acts 4:12, 13:38-39)
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God. (Eph. 2:8-9, 1:7, 13; John 1:12; Rom. 6:23, 10:9-10; Heb. 9:22,26,27)
We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head. (Eph. 1:4,22,23; 5:25, 32; I Cor. 12:12-27)
We believe that only those who are thus members of the true and invisible church shall be eligible for membership in the local church. (Acts 2:41-47, 15:22, 41)
We believe in the personal, imminent and pre-millennial coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. (I Thess. 4:13-18, 5:1-11; Acts 1:11; Rev. 20:1-6; Titus 2:11-14)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord in Heaven; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment in hell. (I Cor. 15:12-28; II Cor. 5:1; II Thess. 1:7-2; Rev. 19:19)
Arcade Church is committed to making disciples for Jesus Christ by corporately embracing the following values:
I. The Glory of God as Our Highest Goal
Psalm 115:1, 1 Corinthians 10:31
The reason for our existence is to draw attention to God in all his majesty and greatness. We strive to seek ways in which his qualities can be visibly seen in our lives and the lives of all people. To that end, Arcade Church will be deliberately God-centered in all we do. Our worship, our teaching, our ministry and our personal lives will testify to such greatness as we daily strive to honor him in thought, word and deed.
God’s purpose is to both justify and sanctify those he has called to himself. While Christians have been pronounced righteous (justification) before God on the basis of their faith in Jesus’ death for their sins, it is God’s purpose to also make them righteous as Jesus is righteous (sanctification). In response to God’s saving grace we, at Arcade, embrace a motivation that seeks to cooperate in a life-long process of being made more like Jesus. The tool and means by which God transforms us into Christ-likeness is the body of Christ – the local church.
II. The Centrality of the Gospel
Romans 1:16, Romans 8:32, 1 Corinthians 15:3,4
We love the gospel – we consider the news good that Jesus died for our sins making it possible for us to be at peace with God and the assurance that we will enjoy eternity with him. Such a gift is undeserved and continually amazes us and impresses upon us the magnitude of God’s love. We believe that the people of Arcade Church must have a clear understanding and deep personal appreciation of the Gospel in order for them to live in the pleasure and rest of this amazing grace daily. We believe our love of the gospel will reveal itself in lives marked by radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional personal growth, risk-taking ministry and extravagant generosity.
III. Whole-Hearted Love for God
Galatians 2:20, Mark 12:30
Because we have been the recipients of God’s loving grace through the Gospel, we eagerly strive to obey the first and greatest commandment – to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind. Such love is a natural result and joyful response to experiencing God’s gracious forgiveness because the one who has been forgiven much has been loved much. We at Arcade Church recognize and are humbled by the reality that each of us has been forgiven much.
IV. Grace-Motivated Personal Growth Toward Christ-likeness
Philippians 1:6, Romans 8:29, 2 Peter 3:18
V. The Purpose & Pleasure of Sound Doctrine
1 Timothy 4:16, 2 Timothy 2:15
At Arcade Church, we strive to be people of the Bible. We consider the Holy Scriptures to be the inspired Word of God and gladly submit to its authority. Not only do we believe the Bible is the completely true and trustworthy Word of God, we also believe God gave it to us for the express purpose of shaping our thinking and our behavior. Also, we are convinced the Bible is completely sufficient to guide us in all areas related to our personal faith and the life of the church. At Arcade Church we consider the practices of study and application of Scriptures to be of utmost importance. We seek to place ourselves in an atmosphere of teaching, group discussion, specialized classes and personal study with the intent of knowing what the Bible teaches (doctrine) and subsequently applying such teaching to our day to day lives.
VI. The Active Presence & Ministry of the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:22,23 & 25, 1 Corinthians 12: 7,11, 1 Peter 4:10
At Arcade Church, we earnestly and humbly pursue the dynamic ministry of the Holy Spirit in our midst. The Spirit counsels us, comforts us and convicts us of sin. He guides us into all truth and ignites our minds to understand that truth as revealed in Scripture. He opens our eyes to the significance of the cross. He helps us to pray. He gives us power to overcome temptation and he causes his fruit to be borne in our lives. He graciously and generously gives gifts to people for the good of the church. He empowers us for service and witness. He gives evidence of God’s presence among us. At Arcade, we long for the fullness of the Spirit’s presence and ministry in the life of our church.
VII. Initiating and Growing Relationship with the Local Church
Romans 12: 3-5 & 10, Ephesians 4:16, Philippians 2:2-4
We are deeply committed to the ministry of the local church as the principle place where God is working out his purpose in the world as well as in people’s lives. We believe that active participation in a local church is not just beneficial but essential for the spiritual growth of individual Christians. We have been joined together by the Spirit into one body, and understand our participation in the church primarily as purposeful involvement in each other’s lives. At Arcade Church, we are committed to serving and caring for one another. We realize that such a life is not hassle-free, but in obedience to God we’re determined to work at developing honest and vibrant relationships as we follow Jesus together. True biblical fellowship can only be enjoyed with the context of committed relationships.
VIII. Deliberately Establish Future Generations in the Gospel
Malachi 4:6, Deuteronomy 6:5, Psalm 78:4,6, Ephesians 6:4
We, at Arcade Church, take seriously the commands and warnings by God to be diligent and active in passing on to our children a complete and compelling witness of the transforming grace of God in the hopes of firmly establishing the next generation in the sure foundation of Jesus Christ. We believe such foundation building begins in the home as children observe, on a daily basis, the gospel fleshed out in minute by minute life.
IX. Passion to Effectively & Faithfully Pass the Gospel on to Others
Matthew 5:16, Ephesians 4:29, Colossians 4:5,6
Along with all Christians, we are passionately committed to engage our local community as well as the entire world in such a way that the Gospel is faithfully demonstrated and clearly described. We at Arcade Church deliberately strive to find ways in which we can openly display the love of Jesus with the intent to call everyone we come in contact with to repent and trust in Jesus’ work on the cross for the forgiveness of sin. We recognize that our role is to be Christ, even to those who will not trust him.
