I received this e-mail from one of the mission groups we support in India. As I read the story I was reminded of the cost of discipleship: persecution. These men and women in India are so committed to the Great Commission that they are willing to die for the cause. It is the fire within them to walk in the footsteps of Jesus that is moving many people out of the darkness and into the light. We must never forget that God uses us, His children, to continue to spread His love and hope to our world. As you’ll read, Satan is not all that excited about this movement. Read and then pray for our brothers in India and for HBI.

“Last night was a very difficult night and a challenge to three of our staff. Praise God they are still alive. One of them was kidnapped, driven in a car, taken to an unknown place, beaten up and then later on thrown into a field hoping he would die. The second one was chased by another group in a car, dragged by his feet into an agricultural field, beaten up and smothered in the slush of a pond. Praise God it is a miracle that he did not die.

As I listened to this traumatic experience, I remembered the words of the Apostle Paul, who said, “We are hard-pressed on every side but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair, persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed”. Hallelujah because we serve a Risen King!

Ministry in the Northern part of India is not easy. All over the North the Church is experiencing an incredible amount of persecution for the cause of their faith, the proclamation of the Gospel and the discipling of the unreached.

I must confess that God is at work! People from all over North India are turning to the Lord, churches are emerging in homes, villages like never before. The devil is not happy, but Praise God Jesus said, “I will build my church”. The gates of Hades would not prevail against it.

India is seeing unprecedented growth and all over the nation people are turning to our Lord Jesus Christ. However, our greatest challenge is, the harvest is plenteous but the laborers are few. I am writing this letter asking you to help us fulfill our mission of building transformational leaders in Northern India.”

Jake,
The early church and church history shows us that as Christians have come under persecution revival breaks out.

I would also suggest that you check out the following web site. Go to Goggle and plug in “You Tube Persecution and Revival in India”.

Brother Yun a pastor in China said this, ” without opposition we will not be as effective as God wants us to be. Without persecution there would not have been revival in China, and without the crucifixation there would not have been a resurrection.”
