Pledging Allegiance To A New King…

A New Study Through The Gospel Of Mark.

The Gospel of Mark was written by John Mark, a close disciple of Peter, and it was intended for an audience of non-Jewish Romans. The Romans were use to powerful and authoritative leaders and military strength. Jesus is portrayed in this Gospel as one with power and authority greater than any human that has ever lived (power & authority over life & death, spirit beings/demonic, and nature itself: healing people, raising people from the dead, casting out demons, calming storms, walking on water, feeding 5,000 from a kid’s lunch box!) and yet advocates Servant Leadership: “I came not to be served but to serve and give my life a ransom for many” “The last shall be first…” “The kingdom belongs to little children…”

Two thirds of this gospel covers the first three years of his adult life and ministry, one third covers the last week of his life. For those first three adult years Jesus went “under-the-radar” as the new Messiah-King, but that last week he accepted public praise as Messiah-King. He himself claimed to be “King of the Jews.” His kingdom is eternal and extends well beyond his own resurrection from the dead. Part one (chapters1-8) is about the vastly superior power and authority of the New King. Part two (chapters 9-16) is about the fact that Jesus a totally different kind of king. He is a servant king and as his followers we too must be servants.

The Gospel of Mark shows us Jesus on the move, serving, sacrificing and saving!
Be ready for action,
Be open for God to move in your life,
Be challenged to serve!

New Series beginning Sunday December 6th
Recapturing the Wonder of Christmas
Too often, Christmas comes and goes without us taking the time to truly experience the extraordinary miracle of the season. Join us as we explore THE Christmas story & recapture the wonder of Christ’s birth!

A Resurgence Of Hope…
Retelling The Stories Of God For A New Generation
“…We will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders…
So each generation should set its hope anew on God…”
–Psalm 78:4-7

In this new series we’ll be drawing upon ancient wisdom from the psalmist Asaph, in Psalm 78. If ever there was a time for hope, that time is now! But in whom, or what, do we trust? Political leaders? Technology & Science? Military Strength? In this timeless Psalm we will see that nothing restores and renews our hope like seeing what God has done and therefore can still do in the future!

New Series Begins 8/23/09
im•pact ( m p kt ) (noun) - The power of making a strong, immediate impression.
The dictionary offers a clear and concise definition for this word. The question as followers of Christ is – are we having an impact for the Kingdom of God? Do we have the power of making a strong, immediate impression on those we live with, work with or just encounter in everyday life?

Join us as we look at God’s Word as to how we can be used by God to have an even greater impact in the world we live. Three areas of living that affect our impact – priorities, purity and power. An understanding of these principles, based upon everyday people that God used in the Bible, will allow you to have an even greater impact!

New series begins 4/19/09
This morning we begin a new series called The Church… A Master-Planned Community.
Master-Planned Communities are not just a bunch of houses, apartments, and condos thrown together by a variety of home builders and developers, but a well thought through plan designed to enhance the day-to-day life of those who live, work, and play in those communities. They are known to have extensive amenities like lakes, golf courses, and expansive parks with bike paths, and jogging trails, schools designed within close walking distance of homes and apartments, shopping and business centers separated out from residential areas.

Master-Planned Communities have actually been around a long time and through the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians God reveals another Master-Planned Community, The Church!

The amenities and benefits of this community are unmatched anywhere! The Big Idea of Ephesians is simply that God has a master plan to take individualistic, fractured, egotistical, prejudiced, arrogant, men and women and harmonize us into a beautiful picture of God’s generous grace, beauty, and peace. We will see how each one of us has a key role to play in that plan and he has provided all the resources we will ever need to carry out his plan.

I invite you to make a fresh commitment to join us both on Sunday mornings and small group study in a Life Group. One warning…You may never be the same again!
